Welcome to the Town of Conklin


The Town of Conklin lies in the southerly part of Broome County and is bounded on the north and east by the town of Kirkwood, on the south by the Pennsylvania State Line, and on the west by the Town of Binghamton. Conklin was formed on March 29, 1824 from the Town of Chenango. Conklin is the largest village in the town and is not incorporated.

The Town of Conklin covers approximately 15,077 acres and as of 1990 has a population of 6,265.

Conklin Calendar

The Concert in the Park series returns to Schnurbusch Park, 1171 Conklin Road, on Wednesdays for the Summer 2008 season!   All concerts begin at 7 P.M.  The Conklin Fair Committee offers refreshments for sale to benefit the Conklin Town Fair.

June 18 - "The Shambles" - Back again this year to kick off our series.

June 25 - "The Dirig Brothers Band" - Returning this year, playing a nice mix of older Rock from the '50's, '60's, and '70's and some Classic Country.

July 2 - "Phil Shapiro and Carrie Shore" - This couple hearkens back to an older way of doing things.  They are American folk musicians and proud of it.

July 9 - "Los Vaga" - A popular group in the area with a repertoire of music everyone will enjoy.

July 16 - "The Southerntiersmen/Carousel Harmony Chorus" - Enjoy a wonderful repertoire of Barber Shop Harmony, taking you back to the '40's and "50's.

July 23 - "String of Pearls" - A talented group, playing and singing music that everyone will enjoy.

July 30 - "Brotherhood" - Upbeat group of musicians.  Full sound and a great crowd pleaser.

August 6 - "Millennium with Kattie Scott" - A regular to our series back for your listening pleasure.

August 13 - "Lorie Bass Trio" - First class music, bluegrass and more.

August 20 - "Shmangy Boys" - Back again this year, with their unique style of entertainment.

August 27 - Season Finale - "Old Friends" - Jim Hull, Tom Dimock, and Tom Emmons return again this year with their singing and cameraderie.  A great way to end the season!

Please be advised that the Conklin Town Hall will be CLOSED all day on Thursday, August 21, 2008, to allow employees to attend the funeral of Councilman James F. Ayres, who died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 16, 2008.

The Town Board of the Town of Conklin will hold a Special Town Board Meeting on Thursday, September 4, 2008, at 7:00 P.M. at 942 Conklin Road, Conklin, New York (site of the 2008 Conklin Town Fair).

As usual, the Town Highway Yard on Carlin Road will be open for yard waste material through spring, summer, and fall.  NO GARBAGE or lumber type material.

The Broome County Mobile DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) is at the Conklin Town Hall Tuesdays only from 9:30 A.M. until 2:30 P.M., closed 12:00 - 12:30 P.M. for lunch.  Processing of information stops at 2:20 P.M., although residents can stop by the DMV office for information only from 2:20 until 2:30 P.M.  Summer hours are in effect from May 27 through September 1, 2008.

Regular Permit Exams (no road tests) may be taken between 9:30 A.M. and 11:00 A.M. and between 12:30 P.M. and 1:30 P.M.  No CDL Exams offered at Mobile DMV.

 

The Conklin Town Pool in Schnurbusch Park is open weekdays 3:00 P.M. until 7:45 P.M. and weekends 12:00 Noon until 7:45 P.M. until June 17, 2008, at which time the pool will be open seven days a week, weather permitting, from 12:00 Noon until 7:45 P.M.

Daily rates are:  Conklin Residents:  Children - $.75, Adults - $1.00; Non-Residents:  Children - $1.25, Adults - $2.00; Family Memberships:  Conklin Residents - $35.00; Non-Residents - $65.00.
